If you have a Gmail account, you can also log into Google's new Google Talk service. They have their own client but it is limited to Windows. Fortunately, it's a Jabber server under the hoods :) Here's how to connect using Gaim, but it applies to other IM clients as well. My JID over there is pascal [DOT] bleser [AT] gmail [DOT] com ;)
